the proposal

The story goes like this. Christmas Eve day I drive to NC after church. My props are in the trunk ready, my heart is racing and a nervousness grows. After 8 hours of driving I was a bit tired, but knew it was time to do this. I lit illuminary candle bags from her back door to my car. And went in to get her. I told her family that I had to get her present early. She followed me reluctanly wondering why I couldn't wait till later.

The night air was cool with a mild breeze. I made her close her eyes when we got close. Then we walked out on the pier at Lake Hickory. Before I went to her house I had set up a series of lights and a Christmas tree. As I escorted her down I stopped to plug in the light and let her open her eyes.

I fumbled over my well thought out expressions of my love and nervously pulled out the ring. I was a bit scared I would drop it in the lake, but didn't. She said yes. Then we sat and ejoyed the moment for the next hour.

Very exciting! Congrats too.
Lake Hickory reminds me of the following: Dale Jarret's house, a man drowning, trying to throw rocks at the fish, boating, riding my bike, a bridge for motorcyclists to do wheelies across, and funny smells. I am glad you have better memories of that lake ;)

See you in a month! Am I invited to the wedding? And do you guys have a date picked out yet?

p.s. i like the picture too
