Understanding My Unique Abilities
I need to be in a position that allows me to teach, train, lead and influence. I like to take quality resources and create/innovate teaching strategies around them. I want to influence teams/groups of leaders with ideas that can help them improve themselves and make strategies to accomplish a mission.
I function best in collaborative relationships with my superiors who will treat me and ideas as peer/equal. I don’t have to be in charge of the whole organization, but I do need to be part of the push on new initiatives. I also will critique existing strategies and structures and positively construct new and innovate approaches that will impress and impact people.
It is important that I not be in a position where I am expected to give management of details or research and design. I need freedom to experiment and practice in order to bring about an effective strategy. I want to build strategies in the trenches for the front lines, not push them from a desk or leave them in the ideas stage. I want to live and work among the people I am serving, but don’t think I have to commit to one group forever. I love travel, networking and influencing the way people think and live.
Cultivating My Unique Abilities
As a teacher at Logos Academy I am able to use many of my abilities. I am in a collaborative role with my administration and am currently involved with the push on new initiatives that may impact the performance of the teachers and the learning of the students. I am able to utilize quality resources and experiment with implementation strategies that affect my classes.
I need to be careful not to rely on my charisma in my teaching/training. Preparing to teach each day can be a grueling pace. So I must stay disciplined. I also need to combine my effort with a church plant in the context where I am working, so I can work towards a holistic strategy (that is very important to me). In the church I hope to work in creating worship environments, leading through teaching and training leaders.
In order for me to stay committed to the vision I must constantly pursue personal development and see a role for potential personal impact in the school, neighborhood and church.
Current Lifework Inventory
I want to radically restructure my direction of the next 5-10 years and would like to accomplish the changes within a two year period.
- I want to be involved with church planting initiatives. This can be accomplished by joining CityChurch, York PA.
- Our current income is good, but will not sustain if we have children. I need to develop a plan to increase my income by $20,000 if we are to survive on one income. We have established debt free living by knocking out all debts except one car payment.
- Currently as a teacher I am able to use many of my abilities. As the curriculum develops I would like to spend more time in helping teachers develop (personal/spiritual) and build bridges from the school to the local church (or vise versa).
- I feel that my lifework has good value, but long for a deep connection with a local church. That connection will bring greater value to my lifework.
- I want to start an Antioch School of Church Planting within a local church and finish courses that will lead to my gaining a master’s level education (accredited or non, doesn’t matter to me).
- By the end of the two years I would like to be established within a church planting team in an urban context utilizing all my abilities.
